BCWRC Aug 29/30, 2009 NAWRA/NOTRA meets

Here is the flyer for BCWRC’s Aug 29/30 race meets:

WHIPPET RACING IN BEAUTIFUL SQUAMISH, BC

AUGUST 29 & 30, 2009

This weekend of racing is dedicated to the memory of long-time club member and beloved friend Jean Linz.  Please come join us!

ADULTS:
August 29th:   NAWRA, 200 yds, drag lure over grass, 4 programs
August 30th:   NOTRA,  300 yds, drag lure over grass, 4 programs (5-dog races)

PUPPIES:
NAWRA only: 150 yds, 3 programs

ENTRY FEES:
Pre-entry (by August 27th): $12 first adult, $10 each additional & puppies;
Kennel rate: $36.
Day-of-meet entries $15 per dog—no kennel discount
Practice runs:  $3 per run, per dog

If you must register your dog on the day of the meet, bring with you a photocopy of the dog’s AKC or CKC registration.  Write your dog’s call name, your name, address, phone number and email on the photocopy.  We will collect the U.S.$2 FTE fee from you.  Dogs not pre-registered or properly registered on the day of the meet will not be allowed to compete.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  Proof of registration with the AKC or CKC is required for puppies as well.  Proof of litter registration is acceptable for puppies.

INSPECTION: Starting at 9:30 AM both days

FOOD: There will be a potluck dinner served at the campgrounds on Saturday night.  No lunch will be served at the field, but there are numerous take-out restaurants in close proximity to the field.

RAFFLES:
Basket raffle on Saturday; 50/50 draw on Sunday.

DIRECTIONS TO FIELD:

From the USA (I-5) take Exit #275 to the truck border crossing.  There is a duty-free store located at this crossing.  Stay on Hwy #15 (Pacific Hwy/176th St) to Hwy #1 West.  Get onto Highway #1 West and stay on it, following signs to Squamish.  Look for Tim Horton’s on your left as you enter Squamish (about the 4th traffic light) and turn right onto Finch Road.  At the 4-way stop (Logger’s Lane) turn left.  Campgrounds are approximately 400 yds ahead on your left.  If you are using the Sumas border crossing, continue north to Hwy #1 and head west following signs to Squamish.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND ADDITIONAL TRAVEL INFORMATION:

Campgrounds are located next to Squamish Recreation Centre.  Cost is approximately $16 per night.  No hook-ups, but water and porta-potties are on-site.  To reserve, email or phone Penny Wilmot:  wilpen@shaw.ca  (604) 898-5385.

Motel charges additional $25 fee which covers two nights’ stay with unspecificed number of dogs in room.  Motel reserves the right to limit the number of dogs.  Crates preferred but not required.

Motel charges an additional $25 for up to three dogs dogs maximum per room.  Fee covers two nights’ stay.  Dogs must be in crates.

Remember that Canada Customs requires an up-to-date rabies certificate for each dog and proof of citizenship [passport, Trusted Traveler Card (NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST) or state-issued Enhanced Driver’s License] for each human.  Dog food transported from the U.S. into Canada must be in its original packaging in order.
