WRAG October 29, 2011 NOTRA meet

Here is the flyer for WRAG’s October 29 race meet:

WRAG welcomes all Whippets and Silkens to come join us for our October meet on October 29th. Since the weather might be a bit colder, we are offering hot chocolate, tea, coffee and bottled water along with the Orange Juice container with donuts for the morning fare.  For the lunch table we have the warming oven full of baked potato’s and a hot pot of chile with shredded cheese.  And maybe a hot dog or two.  Please bring what ever dish that would compliment this menue.   There is camping available please let Jo know if you are planning on camping.  Shade will be available for the paddock area, and over the box’s, if needed.

Registration: All hounds must be registered with NOTRA. To register your hound, submit a copy of the AKC/CKC registration papers to the appropriate person. And then you will turn in a copy of the registration and $2.00 to the race secretary.  Please email Kristen, email address below with any questions.

Although registering hounds on the day of the meet is permitted, it adds to the workload of the race secretary. Registering hounds in advance of the meet is encouraged and greatly appreciated, when emailing entries please be sure to include your dogs registered name and call name.

NOTRA: 350 yards, 4 programs (Whippets)/3 programs (Silkens), drag lure, 4 dog races.

Inspection from 9-9:20 am. Draw thereafter with racing to start by 9:30 a.m.

Entry Fees

Pre-Entries $12 for first entry, $10 for each additional entry same owner, to a maximum of $35. Pre-entries must be received by the Race Secretary by Thursday, October 27th, 10pm. Late and Day-of-Meet Entries $15 each with no discount available.

LOCATION: Clearbrook Park, 3680 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, BC

DISTANCE: Adults – Saturday 200 yards, Sunday 150 yards

TIME: Check in/Measuring: 9:00 a.m.

ENTRY FEES: Per day – $12 first entry, $10 each additional dog, same owner.
$15 per entry received after Thursday, October 20th

Take Highway 1 East and take Exit #87 (Clearbrook Rd) and proceed north over the overpass. Follow Clearbrook Road for approximately 3.3 kms. Ecole Clearbrook Elementary School will be on your right, the park is just past the school. The park entrance is on your right, just before the road curves sharply
to the left. There is a “Clearbrook Park” sign.

ISWS: Open to any Silken Windhound one year or older on the day of the meet. NOTRA: Open to any Afghan Hound, Basenji, Borzoi, Greyhound, Ibizan Hound, Irish Wolfhound, Italian Greyhound, Pharaoh Hound, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Saluki, Scottish Deerhound, Sloughi, or Whippet one year or older on the day of the meet.

General Rules
All racers must wear muzzles. All racers will be boxed unless the race committee deems the boxes will not accommodate a breed in attendance. Entries will only be accepted from hounds qualified to race. Hounds must be registered with the parent organizations to participate. To register in advance see the appropriate website (NAWRA: http://www.nawra.com; LGRA: http://www.lgra.org; NOTRA: http://www.notra.org) for more information. Registration will be offered the day of the meet; for each organization, please bring a copy of hound’s registration and the $2 registration fee. However, pre-registration is greatly appreciated by the race secretary – thank you for your cooperation!

Pre-Entry Fees: $12 first dog, $10 each additional dog; $35 kennel fee (four dogs or more). Puppy races: $8.
Day-of-Meet Fees: $15.00 per dog, no kennel discount.

Food: There will be a potluck lunch each day. Unless time is an issue, we will be stopping for lunch so we can all rest and enjoy each others company! Remember, there is electricity available at the field, so crock pots are more than welcome! We’ll offer a prize for best dish, so make your contribution a good one!

Practice: We will offer practice runs between programs both days – workers, time and equipment permitting – for $5/dog (no charge for workers!). See race secretary for sign up the day of the meet.

Directions
From the North: From I-5 take exit #127 (Hwy 512 Puyallup exit) towards Puyallup. Take the Pacific Ave exit (Hwy 7) and turn right. Go south on Pacific Ave approximately 5 miles to the Roy “Y” and bear right on WA-507/Spanaway McKenna Hwy. Go 1.2 miles and turn slight left onto 8th Ave. Go 5.2 miles and, after the flashing yellow light at the intersection at 288th, look for the first driveway on the left. Turn left into the driveway and follow the dirt road to the clubhouse.

From the South: Take I-5 exit 88A (Tenino exit) and follow to Yelm. Turn right at the stop light and follow to McKenna. Turn right at stop light in McKenna (Exxon station) on Hwy 702/352nd St. Go 5.3 miles to flashing yellow light and turn left on 8th Ave. Go approximately 3.5 miles and look for the last driveway on the right before the flashing light at the 288th Street intersection. Turn right into the driveway and follow the dirt road to the clubhouse.
